After 10 years in the workforce, I decided to take up freelancing. It was a fairly new concept at the time but I was intrigued and wanted to give it a shot. I discussed the idea with friends and colleagues and I immediately had a few projects to get me started. I was also working with a lot of small retailers and wholesalers and fashion houses for their websites and branding needs.
I started out alone but soon I had to reach out to other professionals to support me with content writing and web development. I never thought of myself as an entrepreneur, but it seems when push came to shove, sizing up situations and pulling together the best people, resources, and solutions to address business challenges, was really my cup of tea. Within three years I was working with six multinational companies – The Royal Bank of Scotland, Impetus Technologies, Encore Capital Group, NIIT, Arkadin Collaboration Services, Mercer Inc. I was their one stop shop for most of their internal communications. Designing mailers, newsletters, posters, banners, logos, icons, certificates, stationery, event and campaign planning, branding, posters, invitations, mailers, mementos, T-Shirts, Mugs, infographics, presentations, full wall posters, calendars, and diaries. At one point I was also hired as a part time consultant to work out of their offices for sensitive and confidential information.
I was continuously commended for my work ethics and quick turnaround. I pride myself at being able to handle multiple client projects with insane deadlines, single-handedly. While the ‘Royal Bank of Scotland’ closed shop in India in 2015, I was still working with all of my other clients till I moved to Australia in October 2016. I am still working with ‘Encore Capital Group’.
